The City of Austin TX is seeking a creative, resourceful and collaborative professional to mold the newly created position of Corporate IT Security Officer. One of the major roles of this position will be to assess the security measures and policies currently utilized by the City and to develop and implement a cohesive IT Security Strategic Plan. This is an exceptional opportunity for an entrepreneurial change agent inspired by the chance to create a vision and mission for the City’s technology security.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Corporate IT Security Officer will drive IT Security across the organization to ensure the security of the City’s information technology infrastructure; direct, design, develop, implement, coordinate, monitor and change all aspects of the City's information systems and information technology functions with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and capable IT professional with experience assessing and implementing organization wide security measures. Highly effective communicators, collaborators, and visionaries with a commitment to high quality, effective customer service are sought. The successful candidate will possess an appreciation for the complexities of government service and the ability to strategically prioritize the competing technology needs of the City while achieving results in a fast paced environment. A Bachelor’s degree plus four (4) years of related experience are the minimum qualifications for this position.
